What's In My Handbag Make-up?

MAC Blot Powder in Light - This isn't the best mattifying powder I've had, and it leaves the face looking quite chalky, but it's in there anyway.

MAC Studio Fix Powder in NW15 - I think this is a better mattifying powder. As it is technically a powder foundation, it gives great extra coverage, and hides all my pores. This is my first one and I would definitely re-purchase it. I'll be wearing this on it's own during the hot summer months too.

MAC Studio Finish Concealer in NC15 - This is a little bit cakey on it's own, but patted on lightly if any spots start showing through, it's great. I'm starting to enjoy this product more than I did when I originally bought it around a year ago, and it works a lot better if it's warmed on the back of the hand first.

Bobbi Brown Stick Foundation in Alabaster - I had the worst experience at a counter ever with this product. I told the make-up artist I had oily skin, and she recommended this. It melted off my face every time I used it, so I visited the website only to find this product wasn't suitable for my skin type at all. Luckily head office sent me an apology and a full refund. This is purely in here for major emergencies, such as if I've had an unfortunate cry and had streaks down my face. The colour match is perfect however, but I've been a bit hesitant of the brand ever since!

Chanel Compact Mirror - I carry this round because it has a magnifying side and the mirror is also big enough so that if it's put at arms length you can see all your hair and face, which I feel you can't properly with the mirrors in the MAC compacts.

MAC Lipstick in Pink Plaid & Rebel* - Two of my favourite lipsticks of all time. I carry these round because they look lovely mixed slightly, and are definitely going to be staples of mine for a very long time.

MAC 129SE Brush* - This is so cute and small and it's perfect for travelling around with. The glittery handle makes it easy to find in the depths of my handbag too.

Cuticura Antibacterial Hand Gel in Passionflower and Mango - The lovely fruity scent of this is subtle, but makes sure my hands stay clear of that horrible chemical smell that we're all familiar with. I travel on trains a lot so this is an essential, and it's also a must have for when I'm on the tube - yuck!

  1. Lovely post! I love my Chanel compact mirror too. The shades of lipsticks look really nice, I can imagine them working really well together. I've been using a really horrible hand sanitiser since Carex discontinued the citrus one, so I'm definitely going to invest in some of the Cuticura one, it sounds lovely.

  3. Studio Fix had been my No.1 go to powder since I was 15 and I have never looked back. Lasts so long both on your face AND in the container. For a powder foundation I do not find it too heavy either. Nothing better.

  12. You know, I found that a lot of MAC and Bobbi brown foundations broke apart on my face -- I think it might be Estee Lauder Corp brands in general. I love the colours they come out with, but I do think they're a little lacking when it comes to base products. That said, I have no fewer than 3 or 4 of their lip products running around the bottom of my bag!

  13. the dark lipstick looks incredible - my favourite trend at the moment! mac is without a doubt my favourite brand - despite the price i find it lasts forever and is just such good quality :) and it doesn't make me break out in spots.

  17. I agree with what you say about the MAC concealer. I didn't like it when I first got it either, I found it too cakey and that the application of it was just a nightmare but once I took a bit out of the pot and warmed it on my hand and THEN applied it, it works a dream. I suppose its all in the technique
